Basis

Basis for developers

Subdivisions electrify faster when every switchboard is intelligent.

Modern residential development has a quiet infrastructure problem: every home is adding EV, solar, and heat-pump loads the original network spec never planned for. The traditional answer is more copper and more transformers. The Basis answer is a smarter switchboard in every home, managing demand at source.

Lower infrastructure CAPEX. Faster network approvals. A product signal buyers can feel in the display home.

The infrastructure problem

Every home you build is heavier than the home before it.

A 2005 home ran a fridge, a hob, and a kettle. A 2026 home runs that plus an EV charger, a heat pump, and (often) solar with battery. Peak demand per dwelling has roughly doubled in twenty years, and the trajectory isn't flattening.

The traditional fix is bigger transformers, bigger reticulation, bigger supply. More copper in the ground. It's expensive, it takes months, and it gates your programme at the worst possible moment.

What if the switchboard did the managing instead of the network?

The infrastructure case

Three places Basis lowers the cost of building homes at scale.

Every one of these is a line item on your feasibility. Every one is grounded in data we can hand to your network engineer.

Max demand, measured

Know your real load before you size the transformer.

Current practice assumes diversified peak loads from decades-old tables. Basis gives you actual hour-by-hour data from existing Basis-equipped homes, so your network engineer can size infrastructure to real demand, not worst case.

Demand management

Avoid the $10–50k network upgrade, per home.

EV chargers running simultaneously with induction hobs and heat pumps push modern homes past their supply. Basis manages load intelligently so the threshold is never breached. Multiply across 200 homes and that's a very different transformer conversation with the network.

Faster livening at scale

One trade, one process, per home.

No meter installer schedule. No separate inspector window. Basis consolidates panel + meter + commissioning into a single visit. Across 50–200 homes the schedule compression is material, and the critical path moves off electrical entirely.

~1 hour per new-build install (vs 4–6 hours legacy)

What your buyers feel

Basis is the kind of spec buyers actually notice. Which means sales notice too.

Homes are bought on feeling and rationalised on price. Basis sits at the intersection: a rational, visible, specific product that makes buyers want to live in this home over the one next door.

A feature list nobody else can match

Home App, per-circuit control, $1,247/yr in identified savings, solar/EV-ready, 5-year warranty. The buyer walks out of the display home quoting numbers.

Answers the four questions buyers ask now

Running cost? Energy efficiency? Solar-ready? EV-ready? Basis is a single answer to all four. Sales team gets a cleaner story.

100% AS/NZS compliant, every home

No compliance gaps across a development. No inspector-driven re-work across 50+ lots. The panel arrives ready.

How it works at scale

A five-step process, not a thousand-SKU integration. Designed for development-scale delivery.

Your development team gets one Basis account manager, one delivery cadence, one dashboard. From planning to handover.

Step 01

Volume planning

We work with your network engineer and electrical consultant to model max demand against Basis fleet data. Output: a lower, defensible infrastructure spec.

Step 02

Staged supply

Panels delivered to site in build-schedule batches through our trade wholesaler network. No pre-fab storage, no shipping lead-times.

Step 03

Trained installer network

We certify your preferred electrical contractor on Basis. Same sparky, same price, faster install. Basis-certified electricians on the Find an Electrician map are proof.

Step 04

Fleet-level QA

Basis Mission Control gives you dashboard visibility across every panel in the development, from first commissioning through final handover.

Step 05

Homeowner onboarding

Our concierge team handles app setup and circuit tagging with the buyer. You hand over a home where the tech feature works, and so does the buyer's relationship with it.

Mission Control. Developer view. Dashboard showing all 240 homes in Development X on a map. Status chips: commissioned, pending livening, flagged. Right panel: selected home with all circuit statuses + commissioning history.

Fleet visibility during build

Every home on a dashboard. From first livening to final handover.

Basis Mission Control gives your project team, your electrician, and our support team a single view of every Basis-equipped home in your development. Commissioning status, safety events, outstanding faults, circuit tagging progress.

When a homeowner calls your aftercare line on day five with a tripped circuit, your team already knows what tripped, when, and how to resolve it, often remotely.

Pilot programme

Start with a stage. See what changes.

Most of our development partners start with 20–50 lots, a single stage of a larger subdivision, before rolling Basis across everything. We support the feasibility conversation, the infrastructure modelling, and the electrician certification.

[ENGINEERING: confirm pilot structure — lot minimum, commercial terms, concierge package, network engineer support.] Basis supports developments from pre-feasibility through 5-year post handover.
