What we noticed
Roger had moved from a big family home into a brand-new, all-LED home with solar, a battery and an EV charger. He assumed an efficient new build left nothing to fix. The Basis Board showed otherwise. A few old incandescent lamps he’d brought with him were quietly drawing power — and his washing machine was heating its own water, pulling over 2 kW on a hot wash. Even his fridge surprised him with how little it used.
What changed
With circuit-level visibility, Roger acted on what he could see. He swapped the old bedside lamps for LEDs — cutting one from 75 watts to 5 — and started running cold washes, dropping the machine from over 2 kW to around 40 watts. He now matches his EV charging to live solar production, topping the cars up from the sun. Nothing about the home feels harder to live in — it’s just clearer, and more in his control.
